# Dead Tape: movement regime

Revision: qa-2026-09-14-calibration; generator 4.

M is the median high-low range of the last 20 completed bars in points. Every historical M and today's M is calculated by the same measureM function from a complete 20-bar window at the same fixed synthetic interval, and compared at one decimal. Historical windows and measurement metadata are retained in the generated rep.

DEAD means below the fourth-smallest of 20 historical M values. HOT means above the fourth-largest. NORMAL includes the thresholds. When both thresholds coincide, equality is NORMAL. The existing sampler excludes ties; direct boundary tests cover their semantics.

These labels describe movement only. They establish no direction, setup, stop location, target room or trade permission.

The history strip and candles share a scale. A triangle identifies clipping; exact current and historical M values are available in Check measurements before answering. Close calls can justify uncertainty.

A separate deterministic stream creates historical windows without altering the main sampling stream. Later bars illustrate a synthetic continuation and cannot change the frozen grade. Confidence is assessed across multiple answered reps. Uncertain reads are recorded separately with their reason and excluded from accuracy and confidence scoring.
