# The second push — lesson

Gym heading: Read the chart (shelf 01; built for the /v3 preview, on the site since Sep 22 2026). Written before the code (Sep 21 2026), from the reversal model in the Sep 21 2026 order-flow transcript: price pushes into an area and stalls, pulls back, pushes again and fails lower, and only then does the other side follow through. The teach screen shows this text; the answer key implements the rule in it and nothing else. Distances are in M everywhere. Harness, confidence, persistence, and reveal format follow stop-vs-noise; the opening bars come from point-at-the-bar's generator v2 (the pre-line regimes, by way of structure); the two pushes and the pullback are legs between authored swings, built the way structure builds its tail.

Choices made where the transcript was silent:

- The level is the first push's high. It is a swing the chart made, drawn from that bar to the right edge and labelled; nothing off the screen is assumed. Point at the bar's trap needs a pierce; this read is the failure to reach, so a second push that pokes through the first high is NOT FAILED, not a trap.
- The margin is 0.10 M on both lines, as in Acceptance and Trapped or not trapped, drawn as a faint band. Failed lower needs the second push's high more than the margin under the first push's high; follow-through needs a close more than the margin under the pullback low. A wick under the pullback low is not a close.
- The pullback low is the lowest low between the first push's high and the second push's high. The second push's high is the highest high after the pullback low up to the freeze.
- The freeze lands one to four bars after the second push's high, drawn once per rep whatever the case. In a followed-through rep the deciding close lands on one of those bars, and the freeze comes on it or one bar later. In the NOT FAILED third, half the reps carry a close under the pullback low and half do not, so the closes after the push carry nothing on their own.
- The first push's height, the pullback's depth as a share of it, the bars per push (3 to 6 for the first, 2 to 5 for the second), per pullback (2 to 4) and the entry leg (1 to 2), the opening's regime and the mirror are drawn once per rep and kept across rebuilds. The case sets only where the second push's high sits against the first and what the closes after it did.
- Some second pushes sit within a few hundredths of M of the margin under the first high on purpose, and some deciding closes a hair past the margin under the pullback low (config share); the reveal shows the numbers either way.
- The chart is 46 bars: the opening fills whatever the tail leaves. M is the median range of the last 20 bars.
- Half the charts are mirrored: at a floor the pushes go down, failed higher is the second low more than the margin above the first low, and follow-through is a close more than the margin above the bounce high.
- The next 20 bars are drawn with outcome rates that are config constants and are never shown; the reveal says what price did, in M from the last close, and nothing about how often.
- Soft clock 10 seconds: three checks in order.

Persistent header: **"Training your eye for the push that fails lower, and the close that confirms it."**

## Before you fade

- **The first push** — A leg up to a swing high. That high is the line the second push is measured against, drawn from its bar to the right edge.
- **The pullback** — The leg down from the first push's high to the next swing low. That low is the second line.
- **The second push** — The leg up from the pullback low to its highest high before the freeze.
- **The margin** — 0.10 M, drawn as a band on both lines. A high or a close inside the band is on the line and decides nothing.
- **Failed lower** — The second push's high is more than the margin under the first push's high.
- **Follow-through** — After the second push's high, a close more than the margin under the pullback low. A wick under it is not a close.
- **Not failed** — The second push reached within the margin of the first push's high, or went beyond it. The failed-push condition is absent, whatever the bars after did.
- **The rule** — FAILED, FOLLOWED THROUGH is failed lower and a close through the pullback low. FAILED, NOT YET is failed lower and no such close before the freeze. NOT FAILED is the second push not failing lower.
- **Why it matters at the trade** — The failure to reach is a condition, not a trigger. The close through the pullback low is the trigger, and above the first push's high is where the idea is wrong: that is the stop, not a distance you would like to lose. Entering on the stall, before the close, is trading a picture that has not confirmed. Not failed means the aggressive side has not been refused; there is no reversal read here.
- **What it doesn't say** — A lower high with follow-through is a pattern under a stated rule, not proof of trapped traders and not a forecast. Whether the first high had history (Fresh or burned), whether anyone is stuck beyond it (Trapped or not trapped) and whether participation faded into it (Fuel) are other reads. Not failed says nothing about what the bars after did; a close through the pullback low after a higher high is another module's picture.
- **The mirror** — At a floor the pushes go down: failed higher is the second low more than the margin above the first low; follow-through is a close more than the margin above the bounce high.
- **Check measurements** — The second push's high against the first, and the lowest close after the second push against the pullback low, in M at two decimals, are available before answering. They are the same rounded numbers the rule uses.
- **M** — The median high-to-low range of the last 20 bars. Every distance here is in M. The number for the current chart is on the screen.
- **Confidence is a number** — Low means 40%, Medium 65%, High 90% that your call is right. Scored Brier-style: sure and wrong costs 0.81, unsure and wrong costs 0.16, sure and right costs 0.01. Being certain is as expensive as being wrong.

## The read

Three checks, in order: the second push's high against the band under the first push's high; if it is under the band, the closes after it against the band under the pullback low; then the question: failed and confirmed, failed and waiting, or not failed?

## The rep

Forty-six bars, frozen one to four bars after the second push's high. The first push's high and the pullback low drawn with their margin bands, nothing else labelled. M is stated. The question, in full: **"The second push. Did it fail lower, and has a close confirmed it?"** Failed, followed through; Failed, not yet; or Not failed, with a confidence.

## The reveal

The chart again with the deciding close marked where there is one, then the next 20 bars. The banner, the answer, the second push's high against the first in M, the lowest close after it against the pullback low in M, the verdict, and one takeaway line. Templates:

- FAILED, FOLLOWED THROUGH: **"Second push {δ} M under the first; then a close {x} M under the pullback low. Failed and followed through under this rule. The close is the trigger; above the first push's high is where the idea is wrong. Actual positions are unknown."**
- FAILED, NOT YET: **"Second push {δ} M under the first, and no close more than 0.10 M under the pullback low yet. Failed, not confirmed: the stall is not the trade; the close is."**
- NOT FAILED: **"Second push {reached within the margin of|went {δ} M beyond} the first push's high. The failed-push condition is absent; whatever came after is another read."**

Every rep ends on one of these lines. Each is a decision: the trigger has printed, the trigger has not printed, or there is no reversal read here. Then what the next 20 bars did, in M. No win percentage is shown anywhere.

## Answer key

`H1` = the first push's swing high. `L1` = the lowest low between H1's bar and the second push's high. `H2` = the highest high after L1's bar up to the freeze. `margin = 0.10`.

`failed = round2((H1 − H2) / M) > margin`. `through = some bar after H2's bar closed with round2((L1 − close) / M) > margin`.

- **FAILED, FOLLOWED THROUGH**: failed AND through.
- **FAILED, NOT YET**: failed AND NOT through.
- **NOT FAILED**: NOT failed.

The three answers come up a third each (config). Within NOT FAILED, half the reps carry a close through the pullback low. Nothing but the second push's high and the closes after it carries the case: not the bars after the push, not the first push's height, not the pullback's depth, not the bars per leg, not M, not the opening's regime, not the mirror. Some second pushes and some deciding closes sit within a few hundredths of M of a margin on purpose; the reveal shows the numbers either way.
